SMA GOLD SYSTEM COMMERCIALS
After a VFX job at Foreign Office I enjoyed working on a hand drawn animation project. These two commercials for SMA were directed by Thomas Napper at HSI. They were shot in live action and I worked in After Effect to comp in the hand drawn animation.
It has been a long time since I worked with traditional animation. Each element was a 3 frames boil on twos. They were scanned into a computer and re-animated. In After Effects I was able to adjust the timing and make them look as they were written on the screen using paint vector.
I think the result is really nice and the animated doodles fit nicely with the live action.
